He served as chairman of Wesco Financial Corporation from 1984 until 2011. Prior to enrolling at Harvard to study law, he attended the University of Michigan, the California Institute of Technology, and a number of other universities. He served in the military during World War II with the US Army Air Corps.

He worked at a law firm after moving to California before starting his own practice. He later left the legal profession to work in real estate development. He began investing in the early 1960s and is best known for his friendship with Warren Buffett.
Eventually, with the help of Roscoe Pound, a former dean of Harvard Law and a Munger family friend, he got into the university. He performed superlatively there and graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. in 1948.

Early life of Munger
Charlie Munger was born in Omaha, Nebraska, USA on January 1, 1924. His parents are the late Florence and Alfred C. Munger. He worked at Buffett & Son, the grocery store owned by Buffett’s grandfather when he was a teenager.
He attended the University of Michigan to study mathematics. Early in 1943, at the age of 19, he dropped out of school to enlist in the US Army Air Corps. He did not hold a college degree, but he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant nonetheless.
During World War II, he served. Munger attended Caltech in Pasadena, California, which would eventually become his home, to pursue a degree in meteorology.
Munger never earned an undergraduate degree, despite attending multiple universities for various advanced courses. This turned out to be an issue when he tried to get into Harvard Law School.
Munger’s Career And Accomplishments
Munger began his career as a meteorologist in the U.S. Army before transitioning to law and eventually settling on a career in investing. He co-founded investment firm Munger, Tolles & Olson in 1962 and later joined Berkshire Hathaway as Vice Chairman in 1978. Munger has been credited with helping to grow Berkshire Hathaway into the successful company it is today, and he is often referred to as the “right-hand man” to Buffett.
In addition to his career in investing, Munger has also made significant contributions to various charitable causes and is known for his philanthropy. He has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to various organizations and causes throughout his lifetime.

Charlie Munger is the son of Alfred and Florence Munger. Born in Nebraska, United States, on March 16, 1896, Florence passed away in July 1974 at the age of 78.
She was Helen Russell’s and Charles W. Russell’s daughter.
The United States’ Lincoln, Lancaster County, was home to lawyer Alfred Case Munger’s birthplace, Lincoln, on October 13, 1891.
